Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Ahoy matey! Me has been waiting for this movie for long time coming, and finally me watches it and I’m glad to say it was good. Pirates of the Caribbean is among my favorite movies, I really loved the prequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, and I was waiting for the final installment ever since it was known that “At World’s End” will follow the Dead Man’s Chest, and like I mentioned in my Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End Preview, the way Dead Man’s Chest had ended, it left a lot of questions unanswered, so this really made this movie a must watch.
Most of the cast was same as in the prequels, with Chow Yun-Fat joined in as Captain Sao Feng, the movie begins with crew led by Captain Barbossa to Singapore to find Sao Feng, pirate lord of Singapore, who possesses the navigational chart to World’s End, the gateway to the Locker where Jack Sparrow is trapped. Lord Cutler Beckett who now has the heart of Davy Jones, has started destroying all the pirates, so the nine pirate lords must now join hands to fight and stop Beckett. But they must find Jack back to make this happen, as Jack himself is among one of the nine pirate lords, so the crew starts their journey to the world’s end. They eventually find Jack and they return to the living world. Now a lot of double crossing and complex plots are here, which I won’t reveal here. So amid all sorts of confusion, the nine pirate lords meet and decide to fight Beckett, and kill Davy Jones.
So enough of the story, its of course not completely mentioned here, I don’t want to spoil the fun for you. But its really a complex mix of all the ambitions, and revenge motivated people around in the story, some who seek to free someone, some who seek to win something, and so on. The movie does make you think whats going on at times. So if you haven’t seen the prequels you won’t really understand whats going on. Nevertheless the movie is still having a plot which will keep you glued to it.
Acting wise, Johnny Depp is still the same old witty Jack Sparrow. He still does a great job with the character of Jack. Its a full marks performance from him. Orlando Bloom hasn’t got much time on screen as Will Turner, as he got in the previous two films, but still he is quite good at it. Maintains the traits of the character here as well. Keira Knightley is at her sexiest best as Elizabeth Swann. She is really looking great, and maturing quite well. She impresses at many occasions, although I felt at some scenes she could have been better. Still a nice job from her. Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa is good, his dialogs delivery is simply too good. The pirates accent and language is really coming out well from him, he really does the job well of a pirate lord. That Aye and trademark laugh is really fantastic from him. Chow Yun-Fat as Captain Sao Feng was a small role in the movie, nothing much to really judge on. I think his role didn’t offer much to showcase, so can’t say much. Rest of the people were good on their parts. Pintel & Ragetti, the two pirates were funny as always in their conversations.
Effects department also gets full marks for the work they have done. The action sequences look realistic and believing, nothing is overdone here. The sets and locations are great as always. Costumes, looks, and all the other small things are realistically accurate. Sound effects are fantastic.
So to sum it up it makes for a great summer blockbuster movie, and you will enjoy watching it. I really don’t understand why the movie didn’t get good reviews, I certainly enjoyed watching it, and so should you. The reviews doesn’t stop the movie from looting the box office worldwide. I will definitely miss the movie, and most importantly Jack Sparrow. I wish it could have had more sequels to follow.
