Chronologically, Fast Five is the sequel of Fast & Furious and the prequel of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It probably explains how Dominic met Han. Movie also has familiar faces from the first two movies in the series. The trailer looked good, and promises the well shot car action scenes the series is known for.

Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides poster
Plot: Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penélope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
The last POTC film, At World’s End, was the end of the trilogy, so On Stranger Tides is a spin-off and hence Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley from the trilogy aren’t here in this film. The trailer looks good, funny, and should be a decent watch. Penélope Cruz brings a fresh feel to the movie.

X-Men: First Class – Jun 3, 2011
X-Men: First Class poster
Another one from Marvel this year, X-Men: First Class is about how Professor X and Magneto came into being. Its more like a prequel to whatever we’ve seen yet about X-Men.
Plot: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
Cast: Alice Eve, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender

The Green Lantern – Jun 17, 2011
Green Lantern poster
Not much is known about this popular DC Comic character, but those who know Justice League should be familiar with him. Seems like DC is doing a Marvel by releasing movies of its lesser known characters. Green Lantern should be able to do a Iron Man here, but it depends a lot of the script of the movie. Trailer looks great, Ryan Reynolds looks good, and the movie should be able to prove entertaining.
Plot: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.
Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Cars 2 poster
Its a norm of the summer to see DreamWorks and Pixar rival each year with their releases. And fight for the coveted Best Animated Film Oscar. And this year both have pitted against sequels to good movies. Pixar pits Cars 2 against DreamWorks’s Kung Fu Panda 2. Cars was fun to watch, and Cars 2 shouldn’t be any different.
Plot: Star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Jul 1, 2011
Transformers: Dark of the Moon poster
The third movie in the Transformers franchisee is coming minus Megan Fox. But the rest of the cast is still there, and Dark of the Moon should improve from the previous one. The first one was great, second disappointed and if this one fails, it will kill the charm the franchisee has. The teaser hasn’t been that revealing except from the fact that much of it is on some incidents on the moon, as also the title suggests.
Plot: The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the Moon and must race against the Decepticons to find it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers’ final battle.

Volunteering instead for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation, he is physically transformed into a super-solider dubbed Captain America. Cowboys and Aliens poster
Now this is interesting. Jon Favreau as director, Steven Spielberg as executive producer. And based on a graphic novel, Cowboys and Aliens is a never heard of storyline on a battle between Cowboys and Aliens. Starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, the trailer looks impressive and definitely a whole new thing to watch.
Plot: In 1873 Arizona, a loner named Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) awakens with no memory of his past and a mysterious shackle around his wrist. He enters the town of Absolution where he learns he is a notorious criminal wanted by many people, including Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), a harsh leader who rules the town with an iron fist. But Absolution soon faces an even greater threat when mysterious forces attack the town from the sky, taking anyone in their path.
