Ta Ra Rum Pum Preview

March 12th, 2007

Ta Ra Rum Pum movie poster
Ta Ra Rum Pum
Directed by: Siddharth Anand
Produced by: Aditya Chopra
Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji

I went to Yash Raj Films’s website, and saw this new flick’s promo coming up. Ta Ra Rum Pum is the name, directed by Siddharth Anand of Salaam Namaste fame. With Saif and Rani at the star cast, I expected it to be another of those Yash Raj films with same old love stories, but then the trailer somewhat shocked me. They had a story of Saif as a NASCAR racer!!! I mean who in India knows about NASCAR leave alone watching it? And what made Yash Raj/Siddharth Anand think that this should be a life story of a racer? Seriously I’m out of thoughts here. The trailer gives me the impression that its a happy family, with great things happening, and then Saif has a big racing accident, which makes his family think that he should give up racing. Then the same old fights and melodrama, and then things get better again. Well this is what I felt after looking the trailer. One can only tell after the movie comes out. Overall the NASCAR shots were looking great in the trailer, although one scene was hard to digest, the scene in which they showed a car ramming into the car and kaboom!…a blast! I’ve never seen a “blast” in a NASCAR event, dunno if it does happen. The music was good in the trailer. The movie since based on a NASCAR racer, is of course shot and based in the USA. So lets see what Sid Anand shows us this time, I loved his last movie Salaam Namaste very much, and it is in my list of favorite movies.

The movie is slated for a 27 April 2007 release.
The trailer can be viewed on the official movie site.

Vaishno Devi Trip

March 7th, 2007

Jai Mata Di!
My small vacation finally ended when I returned from Jaipur yesterday. It was a memorable trip, had lots of fun. I went to the Holy Shrine along with my friends. I will put this as a part by part story.
Gurgaon to Jammu: My friends were coming from Jaipur, they had already boarded the train from Jaipur, I was to board in the way from Gurgaon. They train was an hour late from the originating station itself, and kept on getting late and late, and reached my station an hour and thirty minutes late. I finally got in the train and we moved to the Delhi station, where we had our dinner. Then the journey started towards Jammu. The journey was quite OK. Got quite cold once we got into Punjab in the early morning. And finally the train got to the Jammu Tawi station at around 10:45am. Read more…

About Me

Got a phone and SIM…

February 27th, 2007

I got my new SIM card after loosing my phone, the number remains the same. I’m using an old phone (Nokia 2600) for a while until I get my new one. So its good to be connected again to the cellular world. But…all those who were connected to me earlier are requested to send me a SMS with their names, so that I can save your number or drop me an email at: rhit_in@yahoo.com, or contact me on IM and let me know your number there, my Yahoo! ID is rhit_in, MSN ID is rhit_in@hotmail.com, Google Talk ID is sportzforumz@gmail.com, and even a message on orkut will do. A message not a scrap, its not safe to share your phone numbers there.

About Me

…and I lost my cellphone!

February 26th, 2007

Yeah I did, and its a big loss for me, as it was my first ever cellphone, all my contacts were in it, I don’t know any of the numbers now, and I will have to get all those back by requesting everyone to let me know their numbers. Damn it sucks! I kept it in my jacket pocket, and while riding on my way back to home, it slipped out of my pocket, and dunno where he hell did I loose it. I know its my mistake and I should have kept it in a more secure place, but heck, its gone now, I’ve got the number blocked and hope to get the new SIM with the same number back today.

It sucks big time when such a thing happens to you. Although I had to change the phone sooner than later, as the loudspeaker was going nuts, and the ringtone didnt sound at times, and even the 5 key didnt work at times, and required some serious effort to press it. So no hard feelings for the loss of the phone, but the SIM card…yes, a BIG loss, its a tough job to get all those contacts, SMSs and a lot of other stuff back. Well now its another tough time to choose a right cellphone, the one which suits you, and I hate this thing. For the record it was a Nokia 3120 with Hutch Prepaid connection which I lost.
So here is a request to all my friends to kindly email me at rhit_in@yahoo.com with their name and number, so that I can have them with me again. Sorry for the small trouble, but damn I can’t help it. I will be greatly appreciated if my friends mail me their numbers. Or wait for a new blog post about my new phone (damn!) and the resuming of my cellular services and then SMS me their phone number. Thank You!

Great Indian Rock 2007…

February 26th, 2007

This happens to be my first ever visit to a rock show, and boy did I like it. It was awesome, mind blowing, and kick ass. I went with my friends to the venue, Hamsadhwani Open Air Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The show started at around 5:15 but only with some initial sound checks and all. The show finally began some minutes later with Out of the Blue starting off with the proceedings. Read more…

I saw a F1 car…again!

January 17th, 2007

“Wow! What a car!” were the words when I cried out in amazement when I saw the McLaren MP4-21 this weekend. This was the second time I saw a F1 car right infront of me. Last time it was the Honda, but thanks to Johnnie Walker for briniging this car to town. Johnnie Walker has been marketing agggresivly in India recently using their partnership with Team McLaren Mercedes.Well last time I even managed to touch it, but this time I wasn’t so lucky, the people from the event management didn’t allow me to touch it this time. This time again I didn’t have a camera to get a picture with the car, but luckily the Johnnie Walker people had a cameraman to take the pictures and then give it to us, I chose for the e-mail medium for getting the image, and besides they weren’t giving instant prints at that moment, so I thought I was a good choice, so I got myself clicked with the car. And still I haven’t received the images from them. Tch Tch! So sad really! I’m still hoping that I will get it eventually. So I’m now wondering what will be the next car and when I’m gonna see it. Wait a minute I know!!! Its gonna be a Toyota! Thanks to Vijay Mallya and his Kingfisher Airlines marketing alliance with Toyota Racing, we might be able to see the car here as well like Johnnie Walker. So we are waiting Mr. Vijay Mallya. And yeah I will get a camera this time.

Update: I got the image from Johnnie Walker. See it below. Thanks a ton guys.

November 20th, 2006

Casino Royale Poster

Cast
Daniel Craig as James Bond
Eva Green as Vesper Lynd
Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre
Judi Dench as M
Caterina Murino as Solange

Plot

Daniel Craig gets his 00 status, and is now tracking Le Chiffre, a banker who specializes in taking care of the terrorists’s accounts. Bond then enters Casino Royale to play a game of Poker with Le Chiffre, who in turn was playing to win back the money he lost in a bet over a jetliner sabotage at the airport. So a lot of things happen during these days over at Casino Royale. Bond wins finally, but then the truth baffles him, and he gets even with the baddies.

Review
Honestly, this is the first Bond movie which I thoroughly enjoyed watching. It indeed takes Bond “back to his roots”. The plot of the movie is nice, good pace, very well presented. Action scenes are very well shot, the chase sequence in the beginning will really take your breath away. The background music is very nice. And that Bond theme still feels nice to listen to. Lovely locations as well. The best part of the movie was that nothing was overdid, unlike the previous few Bond movies which had too much of gadgetry and visual effects. This has a new feel, which is timed well as a new sixth Bond has come up. And what can be a Bond movie without a Bond girl & an Aston Martin. Eva Green did a good performance. Looks awesome in that dress which Bond gives her. Caterina Murino too looked great in her small role. As for the Aston, there were two of them, Aston Martin DBS & a Aston Martin DB5. Both were lovely.
Overall a great movie to watch. The next Bond film will certainly have to live up to the new standards.
Until then, “The name’s Bond. James Bond”.

Rating
I give it 8.5 out of 10
