2009 Movies Preview

2008 was a great year for movies. Lot of big blockbusters ruled the box office and I really had a great time watching them. 2009 has some much awaited movies lined up, some pretty big names directors like Zack Snyder, Stephen Sommers, Michael Bay, Judd Apatow, and some after a long time like Martin Scorsese, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino and James Cameron, so lets have a look on whats catching my eye, and probably yours too, for this year.

He’s Just Not That into You
This romantic comedy, having an attractive starcast, is about some “romantic misadventures” of some people and how the relationships are.

The Pink Panther 2

A comic book adaptation directed by Zack Snyder who really knows how to make movies out of comic books doesnt he? 300 remember? Eagerly awaited provided they sort out the 20th Century Fox lawsuit issue and release it on time.

Monsters vs. Aliens
A DreamWorks Animation picture with an interesting name and even interesting storyline. Its about an alien invasion and a trio of odd creatures fighting them off.

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Stephen Colbert and Kiefer Sutherland.

Fast & Furious
The adrealine rush is back with the franchisee, now in its fourth installment, bringing back the original star cast of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. More in my Fast and Furious Trailer Preview.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
My most eagerly awaited movie of the year. I’m a huge Wolverine fan and I just can’t get enough dose of some adamantium blade action. The movie is a spinoff from the X-Men series and tell us about Wolverine’s history. More in my X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer Preview.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian
Sequel to the Night at the Museum, and Stiller along with Robin Williams back at the crazy museum adventures. The story continues with the museum items being moved as the Museum of Natural History is closed for renovations.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Probably among the most awaited movie of the year ever since the news of the sequel broke out. The same cast of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox reprising the roles and Michael Bay once again directing this awesome franchisee and Peter Cullen again providing the voice for Optimus Prime, this promises to be a action packed summer movie.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The sixth film in the Harry Potter franchisee, and probably among the most awaited releases, Harry Potter and gang is back. Voldemort and Potter have their final battle and Hogwarts is having more issues to take care of.

Funny People
Judd Apatow’s third direction after The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, Funny People promises to be just that, funny with funny people! Adam Sandler joins the Apatow gang along with regulars Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann and Jonah Hill in this movie about George Simmons (Sandler) a stand-up comedian who has an un-treatable disease and is going to die.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
G.I. Joe doesnt need an introduction. The first live adaptation of the famous animated series, The Rise of the Cobra is about the origins of Cobra Organization. Doesn’t have that many well known names, but the director is a very well known figure. The director of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, Sommers does promise some action and a good direction could make this a good franchisee with more action prospects after this one.

Tarantino returns with Brad Pitt in the star cast. Based on World War II, the movie is about 2 storylines, the first is about some prisoners, who turn into soldiers and fight a group of Nazis. The other is about a Jewish woman who seeks revenge of her parent’s death by the hands of the Nazis.
